Episode 107: Superhero Fashion

A new episode of Strangers with Comics arrives!  We start things off with the week in geek segment which features Gabe being abandoned by his parents so he orders Domino’s.  Rob goes on about some video games he has been playing and Tony reports on the KISS concert.  The Strangers also go over some internet rules. In our TV and Movie Roundup, Gabe basically repeats his weekly Fringe/Glee/Flash Forward praise. We have a brief discussion of Dr. Who and Water of Mars and then a discussion of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV show.

During the main segment we discuss Superhero Fashion. We start off with costumes we like and then talk about the classic “iconic” costumes (for example Batman).  We then move into the bad which of course means we talk a lot about the 90’s. We wrap up with some guilty pleasure costumes which are costumes that are pretty awful but we like them anyway.  We also toss in the comments from Twitter and Facebook from Randal, Jon Suarez, Moonkatz and Gene Valjean.

In our weekly comics roundup, books we liked included Transformers, Adventure Comics, Victorian Undead and Jersey Gods.  We then go into a lengthy rant about Flash Rebirth wherein we question the entire concept and mock the many ridiculous aspects of the story, including the awful costume Wally ended up in. Gabe then rants about Outsiders.

Thanks for listening.  We appreciate feedback here or you can call our voice line at 206-426-1744.

Episode 100: A House Full of Strangers

Episode 100!  For this special episode of Strangers with Comics, we have a full house of guests for the entire episode.  First up we have forum member and fellow podcaster Ryan McCleese.  Ryan has a new podcast called “A Dingo Ate My Podcast” which you can find on iTunes or at http://dingoatemypodcast.blogspot.com/ .  Next up we have New York artist Javier Winnik.  Javier’s work can be found at http://thelearningcurv.deviantart.com/ .  Finally we have DC exclusive artist of Supergirl, Jamal Igle (http://jamaligle.com/).

We go through Week in Geek, TV and Movie Roundup and weekly comic picks together but our main subject is Video Games.  Because the banter is quite funny, we are sending this out as recorded with minimal editing.  For a portion of the recording Jamal’s microphone gets a little wonky but it recovers soon after so hang in there.

A big thank you to all our guests and to you our listeners.  We could not do it without you.  Enjoy!
